November 2019 Building and Construction Industry Crime Statistics

PACT Site Security reported a total of 58 incidents of burglary, theft and damage to police during the month of November, including 16 x burglaries, 35 x stealing and 5 x damage reports. Incidents occurred across 29 different suburbs with 60% of reported offences occurring in the southern suburbs. 

Banksia Grove Estate was once again the highest crime area with a total of 9 offences for the month including 5 burglaries and 4 stealing’s reports. Other hotspots areas were Golden Bay Estate with 4 Burglaries and 3 incidents of stealing, Middle Swan with 5 stealing reports, Piara Waters with 4 stealing and 1 damage report and Madora Bay where 3 hot water units were stolen from 3 separate sites overnight on 27-28/11/19.

Further south in Dalyellup, south of Bunbury, a building site was broken into in early November with no property stolen before offenders returned 2 weeks later stealing a hot water unit and retic controller box.   

The theft of scrap metals was relatively low in November with reports of a stolen water meters in Banksia Grove and Coolbellup with electrical cable cut from a building site in Bennett Springs.

With a continued focus on high crime areas PACT Site Security investigators deployed GPS tracking devices to both Banksia Grove and Golden Bay Estates with immediate results, 6 stolen hot water units were recovered after police executed a search warrant in the Singleton area and investigators recovered $3000 worth of property after GPS tracking identified it location, read more information on this here.

Hot water units were certainly the hot item with a total of 12 reported stolen for the month. Six of these have now been recovered and we have ramped up GPS tracking to combat the theft from members sites as work toward the Xmas break.

Two adult males have been charged after a burglary on a construction site in Lynwood. The site supervisor arrived at site to find offenders had smashed through the ceiling of the carport and crawled through the roof space to enter the house, on closer inspection the supervisor located 2 males asleep in one of the rooms. Literally letting sleeping babes lie, Police were immediately called and attended with the 2 males being arrested and charged with trespassing.
